11.10.2012 New patient clinic
Today I had a busy day in the clinic, having two continuation patients and a new patient back to back. But I feel all went well. Clinic tutor N.M. and my colleague C.D. were observing me taking new patient case history, examining, presenting and treating my patient. My patient had a neck problem and i decided that the Csp HVT would be an appropriate treatment. I successfully HVTed Tsp first but the Csp HVT did not go very well. Before I ever attempted to HVT the neck, I "warned" my tutor that my success rate with necks is low and I could not guarantee the results I was hoping for. As I was saying it I knew that these words were not sort of right ones to use in front of the patient. However I felt a need to communicate this fact to my tutor. I expected negative comments regarding this rightly. it is not a good thing to show in front of the patient any doubts or incompetences as it makes patient nervous, dubious and uncomfortable. My clinic tutor promised to me to help me to improve the HVT skills and he will arrange for me once I am back from The First Place clinic in 5 weeks time some practice sessions to improve the Csp HVTs.
